Button future not yet secure

Although he has a long running contract with his latest signing Williams has to decide before September whether he will retain Button or opt for exceptionally talented CART racer Juan Montoya who is also under contract.

He believes Britain's newest Grand Prix driver needs to take a tip from Michael Schumacher and focus more on his racing.

"It was a tremendous performance by our two drivers and especially Jenson and another great performance by BMW too," said Williams after his two drivers finished fourth and fifth.

"Jenson drove brilliantly today. But it is no-where near the time to talk about future deals, contracts and positions."

"He is at the phase of his career where he could throw it away by irrational behaviour on the track, easily make a mistake in a Grand Prix which he can't pay for it but Jenson seems to have a natural ability to
resist these occasions."

"He is going to be a star but he is only 20 years old and he has at least 10 years of getting stronger and stronger ahead of him."

There are concerns within the team that Button's marketing commitments will detract form his on-track performances.

Technical director Patrick described Button as motor racing's equivalent of the Spice Girls.
