Coulthard's father misses David's victory
Over 100, 000 fans made it through the chaos to see David Coulthard's historic victory but not the most important of them all - his father Duncan
The millionaire Scot who financed his son to the brink of his Formula One fame was still stuck in the traffic jam outside the circuit when the McLaren driver took the chequered flag.
And as he celebrated moving to second in the championship Coulthard junior said he hoped his father was still trying to get through the melee.
"I don't know what happened to him I just hope he can make it here in time for the party," said Couthard.
"I am not motivated by public recognition though its nice when it comes, all I care about is my racing," he said.
"After that I am quite happy to go home have cup of tea and go to bed, I'm sorry that doesn't sound too exciting. "
"All I care about is racing, shagging, eating and drinking - but not in that order."
