Brawn: Only Two More Updates for F2002

Ferrari technical director Ross Brawn has revealed that the Italian team will make only two further major modifications to the car this year, boosting the hopes of more competition for victories in the second half of the season.

Ferrari technical director Ross Brawn has revealed that the Italian team will make only two further major modifications to the car this year, boosting the hopes of more competition for victories in the second half of the season.

The Italian team could seal both the Driver's and Constructor's titles within the next two races, and they have decided to unveil a new package which is set to see them through to the end of the year.

"We have got an update coming for Magny-Cours," said Brawn. "We tried it in testing before Silverstone and it was very good, so we have got a brand new aero package for Magny Cours.

"But apart from a special aero package for Monza, because that is obviously a low downforce circuit, that's virtually it on the car for the rest of the year - although the engine is hopefully going to take a couple of steps on in advance of next year."

If Schumacher takes victory in France he could seal the fastest World Championship finish in history, but Brawn insists that despite little improvement on the car expected over the second half of the season there will be no less passion to continue to race for victories.

"Last year when we won the title in Hungary, the last four races were just as tough," said Brawn. "I commented to Michael 'Does it feel any different?' and he said no. The butterflies were still the same and we will all try to carry on just as we have in the first half of the season."
