Wilson Looking for CART Drive after Jordan Snub

F3000 champion Justin Wilson may move to the American Champ Car series, after he was snubbed for a drive with Formula One team Jordan.

The 25-year-old was hopeful of signing a deal with the Silverstone-based team to partner Giancarlo Fisichella next season, but the seat instead went to British Formula Three champion Takuma Sato.

"If there is no place available for me next season, I might try my luck in America," Wilson told Motorsport News. "I certainly intend to go to a couple of this year's remaining races, to chat to ChampCar teams."

His manager, former Grand Prix driver Jonathan Palmer, believes Wilson will have no problem following Juan Pablo Montoya's example in making a move to ChampCars.

"Obviously Justin's dream is to race in F1, but there is no point being unrealistically impatient about these things," added Palmer. "A lot of ChampCar teams have shown an interest and that's important, because his talent has been recognised.

"When Juan Pablo Montoya won the F3000 title there was no place for him in F1. He went to the States and it didn't do him any harm in the long-term. It's a very strong series that can help a driver build solid foundations for his future."
