Alonso denies not speaking to Dennis

World champion Fernando Alonso has denied he is not on speaking terms with Ron Dennis, and the Spaniard said he was surprised to hear that McLaren team boss had said otherwise

Dennis said at the FIA spying hearing that he and Alonso had not talked since the Hungarian Grand Prix qualifying incident.

"First, the relationship between Fernando and myself is extremely cold. That is an understatement," Dennis told Ferrari's lawyer during the Paris hearing earlier this month.

"In Fernando's mind, there is the firm belief that our policy, whereby each driver received equal treatment, does not properly reflect his status as world champion.

"He bases this assertion on the fact that his experience and knowledge, and what came to him from his former team, is such that he should receive an advantage.

"We are not on speaking terms, but that does not matter. We have not had any conversations since that point. He does not speak to anyone much. He is a remarkable recluse for a driver," added Dennis.

Alonso admitted on Friday, however, that he was surprised to hear about Dennis' comments, and said he had spoken to him right after the Hungarian Grand Prix.

"I will not tell every day what's true and what's not true," Alonso told reporters at Fuji. "But in this case, for example, it's not true.

"I was surprised about that comment because in Spa we were talking together in the hotel and I read in the press that we were not talking and I don't know. If Ron said that, it's because he wanted [to]."

When asked when he had talked to Dennis after the Hungarian GP row, Alonso said: "The day after.

"That was not true (what Dennis said). Again, that is not very important.

"What is important is to try to win races and try to win everything. The race for sure is now very important and this for sure is not in my problems now."
