French driver Jean Alesi has admitted it will be a "special" feeling to reach the 200 Grands Prix mark later this season after almost thirteen years in Formula One.
French driver Jean Alesi has admitted it will be a "special" feeling to reach the 200 Grands Prix mark later this season after almost thirteen years in Formula One.
37-year old Alesi, who will make his Jordan race debut in Hungary on Sunday, will reach the 200 mark at the United States Grand Prix on September 30 and said it will be very meaningful for him.
"Two hundred races will be a special thing for me but it is not a trophy or anything like it," Alesi said. "But it will mean something. I have seen a lot of things in my career and I have seen some drivers who have been killed.
"They lost their lives. Those things are obviously my worse memories. But to reach 200 races means something. It is a way of showing life."
Only Italians Riccardo Patrese and Andrea de Cesaris, Brazilian Nelson Piquet, and Austrian Gerhard Berger have competed at more than 200 Grands Prix. In all his Grands Prix Alesi has secured just one win - at the 1995 Canadian Grand Prix for Ferrari.
