Williams drivers find the limit
WilliamsF1 drivers Ralf Schumacher and Jenson Button found themselves pushing the envelope of the circuit and the machinery after both experienced problems in Friday practice for the San Marino GP
Schumacher crashed during the second session, and was unable to regain the track, forcing him to sit out much of the session.
Button endured a difficult day attempting to come to grips with the kerb-jumping technique required at Imola. Three minutes from the end of the first session, his engine failed, exacerbating his troubles.
"I know we have got some homework to do and tomorrow hopefully I will be further up the timesheets," said Jenson.
"Jenson had a bit of a struggle," admitted technical boss Patrick head, "but at the end he appeared happier with the car."
Ralf Schumacher's crash remained unexplained by team and driver, and it was unclear whether car or driver was at fault.
"In the second session I lost the car in the Acqua Minerali corner totally unexpectedly, as before I never had any problem here," said the German.
"So far I am happy with the set up of my car," he added.
