BAR hunt for points at Imola
British American Racing expects to add to its points tally in next weekend's San Marino Grand Prix as the Formula 1 season moves to Europe
Jacques Villeneuve and Ricardo Zonta opened the teams account with fourth and sixth in the season opening Australian race, but were off the pace in Brazil last weekend despite both qualifying in the top ten.
The team is confident that a productive test at Silverstone during the week has solved the problems that led to the anti-climax at Interlagos.
'We did not perform as well as we would have liked in Brazil because of mechanical problems, but the engineers now know what those problems were so we should have them fixed for Imola,' said Zonta.
'The chassis and engine are good, and if we can get back to the reliability we had in Australia, there is no reason why we can't get some more points.'
'We now have a much clearer idea of what is required for Imola, as well as the rest of the season,' added BAR chief engineer Steve Farrell.
'Hopefully this means we can restore our reliability to the sort of levels we enjoyed in Melbourne.'
