Fisichella delighted with second
Giancarlo Fisichella finished in the points for the second race in succession as he took third behind Michael Schumacher and David Coulthard.
It is his best result since finishing second in the Canadian Grand Prix last summer and adds to his fifth place in the opening round of the world championship in Melbourne, establishing Benetton as best-of-the-rest so far, above Jordan and Jaguar.
Fisichella was helped along the way by tyre problems for Heinz-Harald Frentzen's Jordan which affected his speed in mid-race.
Even so the little Italian had to battle to keep ahead of his German rival as he took the chequered flag with a two second advantage.
"I am delighted it is a great result. To be honest this was my target right from the start," he said.
"I knew yesterday after our performance in qualifying that I had a chance to be on the podium and everything worked out excellently for me today.
"I did a long first stint of 50 laps and then sprinted to the finish." "We have a great car and I hope it will be even better in the future."
He is equal second in the championship with David Coulthard and Rubens Barrichello.
