Hakkinen plays it cool
Mika Hakkinen was playing it cool in the sweltering heat after he dropped two places behind title rival Eddie Irvine in qualifying for the Malaysian Grand Prix
While Irvine ended up on the outside of an all Ferrari front row, Hakkinen is directly behind him in fourth place.
'Of course I would prefer to be further up the grid for the race but my starting position is not a problem,' said the world champion.
'The most important thing is the race and I will be fully focused on achieving the best result I can.'
The Finn leads Irvine by two points with just two more races to go here in Malaysia and a fortnight later in Japan.
'It was a tough qualifying today and in the circumstances the grid positions are understandable,' said team boss Ron Dennis.
'Our focus in this session is very much biased towards the race strategy which we believe will ultimately be of benefit to us.'
