Grapevine: Wings for Life revs up for big auction

Red Bull's charity, the Wings For Life Foundation, is to hold a massive auction on eBay in March this year in order to raise money for its Spinal Cord research

Topping the list is David Coulthard's Red Bull Racing F1 car that took part in the British Grand Prix last year. The car itself that weekend raised $1 million through people donating money to Wings For Life in order to have tiny thumbnail pictures placed all over the car. The car will be sold as a rolling chassis.

2006 MotoGP world champion Nicky Hayden's helmet is up, together with teammate Dani Pedrosa's, 250cc rider Mika Kallio and the world's fastest mountain bike rider, Markus Stockl who achieved 210.4 km/h on a standard bike.

Cyril Despres' 2007 Dakar Rally winning KTM is also up for grabs together with the jacket that 2006 Dakar winner Marc Coma was going to wear on the 2008 edition before it was cancelled.

2004 Dakar winner Nani Roma has also contributed clothing from his KTM and Mitsubishi rally Raid wardrobe.

Still to be confirmed are helmets from Michael Schumacher and a NASCAR helmet from Juan Pablo Montoya.

There are a host of other non-motorsport items available when the auction goes live including a flight with 2007 World Aerobatic Champion Mike Mangold, a day trip for 32 people in one of Red Bull's own Douglas DC 6B, or for five people in a 1945 B-25J Mitchell from Salzburg to one of five European cities.

Football fans could buy their own match against the Salzburg football team or if winter is your thing, then a game against Austrian Ice Hockey Champions, Salzburg.

Non-sports fans could even buy their own 'Red Bull DJ' to play at their own party with one of the company's Hummers or Jeeps.

The auction will start on 13th March 2008.
