Salo pleased with seventh
Mika Salo said he was satisfied to be only half a second behind Eddie Irvine on his baptism of fire as Michael Schumacher's stand-in during qualifying for the Austrian Grand Prix
And he has set his sights on finishing the Austrian Grand Prix in the top five.
The 32-year-old Finn had balance problems in qualifying as he ended up seventh on the grid while his team leader was third quickest.
'The time I lost yesterday affected today's performance but seventh is not that bad,' said the Finn.
'I have been struggling with the balance in slow speed corners but we fixed that and then it went to the high speed bends.
'We didn't get it right until my final run and then I went a bit wide on the first corner and that was where I lost time.
'Times are very close on this track and another couple of tenths would have put me fourth so I am happy to be only half a second behind Eddie.'
Deputising for Michael Schumacher, who broke his leg in two places in the British Grand Prix, Salo was optimistic to finish the race in the top five.
'The car feels good in race trim and it is a long race. I hope I score more than one point.'
