Raikkonen not giving up on title

Kimi Raikkonen says he has not given up on winning this year's title despite his shaky start to the season

The Ferrari driver won the opening race in Australia but has not finished on the podium since the third round of the championship in Bahrain.

After seven races, Raikkonen is 26 points behind championship leader Lewis Hamilton, but the Finn reckons he still has a chance.

"I don't think it is easy, that's for sure, but there are some more races to go," said Raikkonen during testing at the Silverstone circuit. "I think we still have a chance, so let's see.

"We did not get the results we wanted, but fortunately we are going to change that. You know we had a pretty fast car in the last race but we got stuck in traffic so I think if we have a proper race I think we should be able to challenge McLaren for the next race. That is our aim."

Raikkonen has worked with a new aero package at Silverstone this week, preparing for the upcoming races.

The Ferrari driver believes the new elements have improved the car.

"I think it was good," he added. "I think we were lucky enough with the weather, I had almost a full day without rain, the car seems to be good. I think we made a step (forward)."
