Pollock: Villeneuve could stay at BAR
Jacques Villeneuve's manager Craig Pollock has said that the driver could stay at BAR next season, following reports that the Canadian was to be replaced in the team
BAR sources told AUTOSPORT that the decision had been made not the retain the Canadian next season due to his high cost, although team boss David Richards denied a decision had been made, a view echoed by Pollock.
"Absolutely nothing has been decided yet," Pollock was quoted as saying by the Canadian Press about his future with BAR.
Pollock believes that Villeneuve still ranks as one of F1's top drivers. "Jacques is currently in the top two or three open-wheel drivers in the world," he said. "He's won the Indy 500, he's won a CART championship and he's won a world title. He's just 32 years old and with the right equipment capable of winning another championship."
According to Pollock, Villeneuve has ruled out a return to Champ Cars, but might entertain offers from NASCAR teams.
