BAR looks to take a step forward

BAR technical director Geoff Willis is confident that the team will take a good step forward at the British Grand Prix as a result of chassis and engine upgrades that it plans to introduce for the event

The team has struggled for reliability and speed this season, and has so far scored just 13 championship points. But Willis is confident that the improvements to be introduced will push BAR to a good result at Silverstone.

"We will introduce a substantial chassis and engine upgrade for Silverstone, featuring a number of new elements," said Willis. "The car will look very different, with its new bodywork and roll-hoop, whilst under the skin there have been further engine and mechanical developments. We regard this as a good step forward and we anticipate a more positive weekend than we have experienced of late."

Jacques Villeneuve tested many of the developments at Barcelona last week, and is looking for a good result to boost his season.

"I have good memories of winning the British Grand Prix in 1996 and 1997," said the Canadian. "2003 has been a tough season so far, so it would be nice to get a good result for the team.

"When we tested at Silverstone not so long ago, we didn't have a great test, but having said that our test in Barcelona last week went a lot better than when we were there for the race weekend, so I am optimistic and really looking forward to it."
