The hills are alive with the sound of...money
Austria. Birth place of Mozart, home of the world renown Viennese Boys Choir and setting for a singing nun, but if you prefer the sound of money to the sound of music, this weekend's Austrian Grand Prix could be the best place to shell out your schillings
And shrewd gamblers could be hoping for a salsa beat to be banging on the victory drums come Sunday evening because at 14-1, Rubens Barrichello has the highest odds of F1's big three teams - Ferrari, McLaren and Williams.
His season thus far has not set the Grand Prix world on fire - two third places, a second place and two DNFs - but if the Brazilian is to add to his sole victory he took at the German Grand Prix last year, it could be worth your while backing him in Austria on Sunday.
If you prefer to flutter on a Saturday, have a look at the odds for qualifying. Given that the A-1 Ring is known for its unpredictable weather, and a midfield runner setting a reasonably quick time in changing conditions is not entirely out of the question - Giancarlo Fisichella did that in a Benetton in 1998 - a bet on who takes pole could prove profitable.
If Juan Pablo Montoya can hook up a quick lap in his Williams BMW, he's a reasonable bet at 25-1 to take pole. But if you are feeling particularly adventurous, plump for a non Ferrari, McLaren, Williams, Jordan or BAR driver to take pole at 100-1.
Or if BAR can keep up the momentum from Spain, where Jacques Villeneuve's third place earned the team's first ever podium, you might want look to Olivier Panis and his odds of 18-1 to pick up a podium in Austria. There has not been that much difference between the Frenchman and his team mate Jacques Villeneuve, so a bet on the former McLaren test driver could be money well spent.
