Lauda tells Autosport how he’ll fix Jaguar
In an exclusive interview in this week's Autosport magazine, Niki Lauda has revealed how he plans to turn Jaguar Racing's fortunes around and make it a force to be reckoned with in Formula 1
In a one-on-one interview with Autosport's Grand Prix editor-at-large Mark Hughes at his London office, Lauda explains in stark terms why the team has struggled to make the grade in Formula 1 and how things are going to change with him at the helm.
"We are evaluating and seeing what we can do to make this car better," said Lauda. "And we have a big change for it at Montreal, for example. My personal concern now is next year's car. By June/July we need to be giving our technical team a concept of what we want for that."
Lauda admits that morale at the Milton Keynes-based squad is low, but he thinks he can show his team a brighter outlook for the future.
"Morale is not great," he said. "When you have a car two seconds off the pace and no points after five races, it makes things difficult. The easiest way to improve morale would be to get a couple of points in Austria. But it's part of my job to motivate them, to make them see where we are going and to dig in."
In this week's Autosport, on sale May 10, Lauda also reveals his views on...
Exactly why the R2 is fundamentally so slow.
What problems he has inherited from the old Jaguar regime.

How the team is at a disadvantage compared with the opposition.
