Shall we try that again? Piastri suggests slicks, but hasn't pitted. Lindblad's car is being moved out of the way.

The 2026 Canadian Grand Prix is go...nope.

Well, that was weird wasn't it? The lights just stayed on, as Lindblad has stopped on the grid.

Antonelli moved forward before the lights went out, as we have an extra formation lap.

"Feels like I'm floating around on these tyres quite a bit already", Piastri reports.

The formation lap begins. Will the call for inters be a mistake, or pure genius? Let's find out...

Tyre watch

So, the McLarens, Hulkenberg, Bortoleto, Sainz, Perez, and Bottas are showing as on intermediates.

Softs for Russell, Antonelli, Hamilton, Verstappen, Hadjar, Leclerc, Bearman, Ocon, Albon, Alonso, and Stroll.

Mediums for Colapinto, Lindblad, Lawson, and Gasly.

...so, that's a bit of a spread isn't it...

Five minutes to go before lights out in Canada. What's this rain going to do?

Make your mind up, weather! We do have a "risk of rain" at 50% - which means it'll either rain or it won't...

Weather watch

It's 13C air temperature, just 17C on track. It's also slightly windy.

The gazebos are down, so it looks like we'll be in dry conditions for this race.

Meanwhile, Bortoleto, Bottas, and Gasly will be investigated after the race for apparently ignoring race driver's instructions.

Plot twist? Tents have gone up around the grid, in anticipation of some drizzle...

If you're not watching the Indy 500 right now, you should be. We'll hold off on the spoilers, but you can follow along here.

Plenty of other sport going on too, with the French Open now running. Not that we cover tennis here, of course.

F1 Canadian Grand Prix

Hello everyone, and welcome once more to our live coverage of the Canadian Grand Prix weekend. It's the big one - the full 70-lap race is upon us.

And, for all the fears that drivers had over a wet race, it's actually dry - but it's cold, and just 12C in Montreal.

Speaking of weather - if you're watching the Indy 500 - little sprinkles of rain keep interrupting green-flag running.
