Liam Lawson

Liam Lawson forms part of Racing Bull’s line-up for 2025, following a return to the team from Red Bull after the first two races of the season.

In his native New Zealand, Lawson claimed many trophies and top-spot finishes in karting, before moving into single-seaters in 2015.

He made his FIA F3 debut in 2019, becoming a part of the Red Bull junior team that same year, finishing 11th overall with MP Motorsport. In 2020, he finished fifth with Hitech, and made the move up into F2 for the following year.

He finished ninth in 2021, before a third-placed result in 2022. He then moved into Super Formula, and served as Red Bull and AlphaTauri’s reserve driver at the same time. He finished second in Super Formula in 2023, and made his Formula 1 debut with AlphaTauri the same year, filling in for the injured Daniel Ricciardo following a crash in Zandvoort.

2025 – Red Bull and Racing Bulls

Lawson’s first full season in F1 got off to a nightmare start when he was demoted from Red Bull after just two rounds, placed back in Racing Bulls with Yuki Tsunoda taking his spot at the senior team.

With his confidence needing a rebuild as he readjusted to his former squad, Lawson made steady progress to take his first points of the season in Monaco. Further points finishes were few and far between, but an eye-catching fifth in Azerbaijan provided a timely boost as Red Bull began to settle on its 2026 driver line-ups across both teams.

Coupled with Tsunoda’s demise, the New Zealander’s pair of points finishes in Brazil and Qatar ensured he kept his place at Racing Bulls for 2026.

2024 - RB

21st - 4 points

Lawson impressed many with his 2023 performances, but remained on the sidelines as Red Bull and RB’s reserve driver for the start of the 2024 season.

After the Singapore GP, he replaced the outgoing Ricciardo and teamed up with Tsunoda for the remainder of the season.
