Norris moves up to eighth with a move on Gasly. The McLaren driver didn't pit under the VSC, so he's brought himself into play. Lawson in seventh is next up.

Hamilton's dug a bit of time out of Verstappen here, he's 5.8s behind now...make that 5.2s, so he's trying to get back on terms with the Red Bull.

Leclerc might need another lap to try and pass Hadjar,  who has been noted for a yellow flag infringement.

Russell is under investigation for throwing his headrest out of the car. Which, per our investigation, he did do.

Now, did Hadjar move too late? Leclerc will have to have another go at clearing the Red Bull, as Leclerc says "that was nearly a huge one".

Yeah, I think Hadjar moved in reaction to Leclerc there - the replay very much shows that.

Half distance, and Russell's exit means the battle for the lead is over.

Leclerc has the wind in his sails now, so he's very close to Hadjar here. Hadjar covers off a move down the back straight, which puts Leclerc slightly on the grass!

We're back, Antonelli has 4.5s over Verstappen. Hamilton is 7.7s behind, with Hadjar trying to close up on the Ferrari driver. Medium tyres for the top five, with Colapinto in sixth and on the hard tyre. Lawson, seventh, has softs.

Hadjar moves ahead of Leclerc in the pitlane, as Ferrari had to double-stack a bit. Sainz also leapfrogs Bearman, who drops out of the top 10 for now.

Replay of Russell's car shows that his car just conked out. Power unit failure, Mercedes says.

Antonelli leads once more, then, and can take a breath. Verstappen is second, with Hamilton now up to third. Sainz moves up into the top 10 as a result.

That's a big gain in the championship stakes for Antonelli, who pits from the lead. Verstappen and the Ferraris will follow suit, as does Hadjar.

Colapinto, Lawson, Gasly, and Bearman all pit too.

Russell goes off! He's out!

He goes wide at Turn 8, and he's pulled to the side of the road. He's apoplectic, and punches the car in frustration. It's a VSC.

Antonelli's dropped back a little bit on this lap, but he might just be getting the recharge on. He's been told that the drivers will be told to hold position if they can't race cleanly.

Norris is watching this battle ahead of him, perhaps hoping to use the Mercedes pair to help him catch Sainz for 11th.

Antonelli has a sniff on the inside, but Russell is unmoved.

It's Russell from Antonelli, then, with Verstappen, Hamilton, Leclerc, Hadjar, Colapinto, Lawson, Gasly, and Bearman.

Antonelli has a little think about a move at the chicane, but Russell scoots across to cover off.

Verstappen is falling back a bit now, 6.1s behind Antonelli now. The Mercedes duo has now been read the...whatever the milder form of the riot act is.

Alonso retires from the race with a technical issue.

My word, this is fierce. Antonelli complains that he was pushed off, and he looks like he's about to have another go!

Russell hangs to the inside, and Antonelli stays behind - why do I get the feeling this will end in tears?

Antonelli has a big lock-up into the hairpin this time, and Russell vaults back into the lead!

But it's not over! Side-by-side, and the two cars seemed to touch as Antonelli went off! He leads, but he'll have to give it back!

Antonelli now leads, with Russell trying to keep hold. Another issue at the hairpin for the Briton, who concedes a fraction of time to Antonelli.

Hamilton wanted to have a go at Verstappen there, but he goes off at Turn 8!

Antonelli draws past, and retakes the lead into the chicane as the two cruise past Bottas' Cadillac!

Russell and Antonelli continue to wage war, and Antonelli might be about to try something...

...and indeed, Antonelli forces Russell to defend, both into the chicane and into Turn 1! Great stuff here; they're coming up to lap Norris now.

Bearman has been noted for a yellow flag infringement, as has Alonso.

Hamilton's closer to Verstappen now, within half a second.

Lawson and Hulkenberg are under investigation for being out of position at the safety car line before the start.

Antonelli has a peek down the inside of Russell, but he's not got quite enough juice to blast through.

Hamilton is struggling to keep within that one-second window of Verstappen now, it ebbs and flows.

Antonelli stays close to his team-mate, but he's just trying to apply pressure for now.

Russell has 0.4s in hand over Antonelli, who's waiting to find another way into the lead.

Russell then locks up once more at the hairpin, just about holds the lead, but Antonelli draws alongside into the chicane. Russell just about holds it, as Antonelli decided that discretion was the better part of valour.

Grass in Norris' radiators, so that's why he's stopped. He rejoins in 14th.

Antonelli continues to hound and hustle Russell, but the leader is just about keeping his team-mate contained. They're 4.4s clear of Verstappen.

Norris is pitting for a second time. Reliability problem.

Piastri indeed nerfed Albon at the hairpin, as he outbraked himself.

Russell, meanwhile, has weathered the storm from Antonelli for now. Verstappen still has Hamilton on his tail.

It seemss that Russell went wide at the hairpin, which let Antonelli trickle through.

Albon has stopped at the hairpin, for the second year in a row.

Piastri stops for a second time, for a new front wing - so it looks like they've come to blows.

Antonelli has passed Russell somewhere, but Russell takes it back on the run out of the hairpin. It's just like watching the Indy 500, and Antonelli then tries a move at Turn 1...

Verstappen loves that wide line through the hairpin, doesn't he? Hamilton can't close the gap enough to put an overtake attempt on.

Norris passes Bearman at the hairpin, as Gasly had got past the Haas. Norris then takes ninth from the Alpine on the run out of the chicane.

Russell leads Antonelli by 1.0s, with Verstappen 3.2s behind.

Norris is within a second of Gasly and will aim to climb back into the top 10.

Piastri, meanwhile, is trying to close down Albon.

Verstappen fires past Hamilton and moves up to third, with a great run out of the final corner. He's got a 2.3s gap to close to Antonelli.

"I've got no power, come on guys!" Hamilton reports, presumably annoyed with his deployment plan.

He's sticking with Verstappen, however.

Norris passes Albon properly this time, and gets up to 12th. Alonso is next up, and he clears the Spaniard into Turn 8.

Antonelli had really locked up on that last lap, very nearly getting too close to Russell's rear end. Hamilton might have an opportunity to capitalise.

Gasly has now passed Alonso, while the McLarens have cleared Ocon.

Hamilton now drops out of the overtake range of Russell now, which might leave him vulnerable to Verstappen.

Russell, meanwhile, stays on Antonelli's tail and gets the move done into the back chicane! Antonelli outbrakes himself, and skates across the run-off. The lead is Russell's once more!

Gasly has a go at Alonso but went off at Turn 14, so had to give 10th back.

Verstappen gets a bit wide in the hairpin, as he tries to keep in overtake range of Hamilton.

So, we've got Antonelli, Russell, Hamilton, Verstappen, Leclerc, Hadjar, Colapinto, Lawson, Bearman, and Alonso in the top 10.

Norris tries to have a go at Albon but instead skates across the grass at Turn 3. Luckily, there's a massive gap between him and Stroll so doesn't lose a place.

Piastri moves up to 15th.

Antonelli has to defend his new-found lead from Russell, who tries a move at Turn 1.

Hamilton is chasing the Mercs here, with Verstappen and Leclerc just behind them. Hadjar's also in this battle.

Norris comes out of the pits in 14th, while Piastri is 17th.

Bearman screams past Gasly and Bortoleto to get up to 11th, as Alonso gets through the Audi too - it's difficult for the drivers to build tyre temperature.

Antonelli had got past Russell into the first corner, and is now pressing Norris - who will pit for slicks.

Hulkenberg, Sainz, Bortoleto, and Perez also ditch their inters.

The 2026 Canadian GP is go...THIS TIME

And we're away! Big start from Norris, who vaults into the lead on those inters! Hamilton zips up to fourth ahead of Piastri, with Verstappen behind him. Leclerc is seventh ahead of Hadjar.

Piastri immediately filters into the pits.

Piastri still wants a stop, stating that the inters are a mistake. He'll continue with them for the start, as McLaren has made its bed and has chosen to lie in it.

Everyone's lined up, but we get another formation lap as Lindblad's car hadn't been moved off the grid yet.

It has now been moved into the pitlane, so we should be okay this time around. We're now down to 68 laps.
