Winkelhock replaces Carroll at Mugello
Adam Carroll will be replaced by Markus Winkelhock for this weekend's DTM race at Mugello
The Futurecom-TME team, run by Spyker F1 boss Colin Kolles, have announced that Carroll has left the team "due to non-fulfilment of sponsorship obligations."
Carroll's position in the team was in doubt after he made a return to the GP2 Series at Magny-Cours two weeks ago.
The 24-year-old then took a victory on home soil at Silverstone last weekend, and it is likely that he will complete the GP2 season with FMS.
"From the sixth round of DTM in Mugello on, Team Futurecom-TME won't appoint Adam Carroll as their driver," the team said in a statement.
"Team Futurecom-TME regrets the end of the working relationship and wishes Adam all the best for his further career."
The Ulsterman had endured a tough start to his rookie season in the DTM in a two-year-old Audi, although he had impressed the team with his performances.
"Carroll, who until this year had competed in formula car series, became more and more confident from race to race with the Audi A4 touring car and showed a clear improvement in pace," the team added.
"The eighth fastest lap time at Norisring, and top ten finishes in Oschersleben and Lausitzring proved the competitiveness of the Audi A4 DTM 2005. Only a collision with Jamie Green prevented him from scoring the first points at the EuroSpeedway."
Winkelhock has already started two DTM races this year for Audi. The German stood in for Tom Kristensen at Lausitz and Brands Hatch in a 2007-spec car.
