Tomczyk tops final practice
Martin Tomczyk set the fastest time in the final DTM free practice session at Hockenheim
The Audi driver snatched the top spot from Mika Hakkinen in the closing minutes of the session, as the majority of the field worked on setting their cars up for this afternoon's qualifying session.
The late flurry of activity led to the majority of the top 10 being filled by the 2007-specification cars, which had not featured at the top of the timesheets much on Friday.
Alexandre Premat was the top driver in an older car, and the Frenchman was the fastest man overall for much of the session before he was bumped down to fourth behind Timo Scheider.
The 2007-spec Mercedes drivers showed a vast improvement on their Friday times as Hakkinen had predicted, as Bruno Spengler and Bernd Schneider also made the top eight.
Friday's pacesetter Paul di Resta had another impressive session in his two-year-old Mercedes, as he just squeezed into the top 10.
Jamie Green opted not to go out in the dying minutes of the session, but the British driver will still be one of the favourites for pole despite being only 13th this morning.
