Mucke tips Schumacher to shine
Ralf Schumacher's DTM team boss Peter Mucke is convinced that the ex-Formula One driver can succeed in the DTM
The 32-year-old set the seventh fastest time in last week's three-day Mugello test, where he worked with new teammate Maro Engel for the first time.
"Both Ralf and Maro are racing on an extremely high level," said Mucke. "They have got what it takes to shine in DTM.
"If everything runs perfectly and you deliver when it counts, everything is possible."
Mucke added that he has been impressed with how the pair have worked together, despite their contrasting levels of experience.
"The two have got completely different histories," he said, "but this doesn't make a difference when it comes to working on the track. They are both professional drivers.
"The competitiveness of the grid is outstanding, hence, it is difficult to make it to the very top. But at the bottom line, Ralf behaves like an F3 driver - he's down to earth and focused, without displaying any airs and graces."
Schumacher and Engel will have another chance to get used to their 2007-spec Mercedes when the final pre-season test kicks off at Oschersleben on March 31.
