Turkington wins from pole
Colin Turkington converted his pole position into victory in the first British Touring Car Championship race of the day at Snetterton
The Team RAC driver had initially lost the lead, on the first lap, to his teammate Tom Onslow-Cole, who had also started on the front row of the grid.
However, five laps later the Northern Irishman regained the lead and held it to the flag to claim his third victory of the year in the BMW 320si.
He was chased throughout by Team Dynamics' Gordon Shedden, who brought his Honda Civic home in second place, while Onslow-Cole completed the podium finishers in third.
Vauxhall's Tom Chilton finished fourth, having started from the same slot on the grid, ahead of Mat Jackson, who had battled his way up from ninth.
There was disaster for reigning champ Matt Neal, who appeared to be late on the brakes going into the first corner on the opening lap. He made contact with championship leader Jason Plato, who recovered from the spin and fought his way back up to ninth. But Neal suffered a puncture in the incident and finished the race a lap down after a trip to the pits.
Plato's title rival Fabrizio Giovanardi struggled at start, dropping from fifth to eighth, but crossed the line in sixth place.
