Giovanardi win sets up title decider

Fabrizio Giovanardi has won race two at Thruxton - the penultimate encounter of the season - but with Jason Plato finishing second, there is now just one point between them in the drivers' title battle

Plato maintains his slight points advantage after trying furiously to get past his rival - a robust move putting them both across the grass. It was not successful, however, and Giovanardi claimed the chequered flag ahead of Plato and Matt Neal.

The top seven reverse grid puts SEAT and Vauxhall's two guest drivers on the front row, with Tom Coronel in front of Alain Menu. Plato will line up one place ahead of Giovanardi in sixth place on the grid.

"There's one point in it now - and it's in my favour," said Plato. "We've got the situation of the reverse grid and with an advantage of just one point, anything could happen."
