Turkington just focused on wins

Colin Turkington has said that he is aiming to score as many victories as possible this season rather than concentrating on the BTCC title

The Ulsterman is more than 60 points adrift of championship leader Jason Plato, but he feels that Team RAC now have a good enough understanding of the car that they can contend for victories every weekend.

"I'm not in such a tricky position as Jason or Fabrizio (Giovanardi) will probably end up being, thinking about the championship and keeping out of situations," said Turkington. "I'm just going all out for wins."

The 26-year-old took his first win of the season last time out at Croft, and he believes that he will be in a position to add to his tally this weekend at Oulton Park.

"The win was satisfying," he said. "We've had to learn about the BMW from scratch and I've had to learn about rear-wheel drive, and suddenly we've cracked it."

Turkington also feels that he can now take advantage of the benefits of a rear-wheel drive car, such as better tyre wear and its strength at the starts of races.

"We have a quick car in qualifying and race trim, and we're quick at the end of a race which is an advantage," he said.

"Provided I can qualify on the first few rows at Oulton, then hopefully the BMW's rear-wheel drive will do the rest at the start just as it did at Croft."
