Plato unhappy about Turner's move
Jason Plato has expressed his disappointment with teammate Darren Turner's pass on him in the third race at Croft on Sunday
The SEAT pair were running fifth and sixth behind Jason Hughes when Turner got ahead of Plato, who eventually dropped down to eighth place.
Fabrizio Giovanardi won the race, which enabled the Italian to close up to Plato in the title race.
"I'm not really happy about the way my teammate overtook me in race three," said Plato. "It ruined my race, and I lost places and six championship points because of it."
Turner saw nothing wrong with the move, as he felt that Plato simply ran wide while trying to find a way past Hughes, who was holding up a long queue of cars at the time.
"Jason ran wide and I nipped through on the inside," he said. "I need to be collecting points at the moment because I'm still a long way down in the championship."
Turner had taken his first BTCC win earlier in the day, although the race had finished under bizarre circumstances after Plato slowed down while leading as the cars went to cross the finish line.
The drivers later explained that Plato had only taken the lead from Turner earlier in the race to get a point for running at the front, so they felt it was right for them to switch back.
"It was great to get a win and with Jason coming second it was a brilliant result for the team," Turner added. "All in all, I'm happy to have scored so many points this weekend."
Turner is currently fifth in the BTCC standings, while Plato is now just two ahead of Giovanardi at the top of the table.
