Nine drivers in WTCC title showdown

Nine drivers can still win the World Touring Car Championship heading into the season finale at Macau next month

Augusto Farfus moved into the lead of the championship at Valencia on Sunday, but SEAT driver Peter Terting is only 12 points behind, ninth in the standings with 20 points still available.

Farfus won the first race of the day and then took a solid fifth in race two, while previous championship leader Andy Priaulx only scored one point all weekend.

"I am extremely happy with my weekend and to be in the lead of the championship," said the Brazilian. "I did my job in both races so I'm content."

Farfus has the narrowest of margins over his closest rivals though, and only leads Jorg Muller and reigning champion Priaulx by a point.

BMW driver Muller has had a difficult time for most of the season, but the nature of the series has prevented anyone from breaking away in the points, and enabled him to keep in touch.

"At the beginning of the season we were struggling with the success ballast, but now we have worked hard and the car feels good with the extra weight," said the German.

"But it is worth remembering how many drivers can still win this championship, so I don't dare make any predictions for Macau."
