Priaulx upbeat despite poor weekend
Andy Priaulx is optimistic about his chances of retaining the World Touring Car Championship despite losing the lead last weekend
The Brit retired from race one after a crash at the first corner, but then charged from the back of the field to eighth in race two to earn a solitary point.
But despite falling behind Augusto Farfus in the championship, Priaulx is happy because he will be carrying a reduced amount of success ballast at Macau for the season finale.
"I'm on a huge high at the moment, I feel really positive going into Macau," he said.
"In race two I was driving my heart out. I didn't give up and I scored one point which could be a very important one, and I don't have too much weight for Macau."
Priaulx will have 45 kilograms of success ballast at Macau, which is the least he will have carried since the second round of the season at Magny-Cours, where he took a race win.
Last year the BMW driver sealed the title at Macau, but with nine drivers still in contention for the championship he agrees with his rivals that it's too hard to predict.
"I like Macau and its unique challenges, but you also need some luck to make it there," he said.
