Farfus wins Oschersleben race 2

Augusto Farfus claimed his third World Touring Car Championship victory of the season after holding off BMW teammate Andy Priaulx in a hard-fought race at Oschersleben

The Brazilian jumped ahead of pole-sitter Roberto Colciago off the line to take the lead, with Priaulx slipping into second place.

With title rival Jorg Muller pushed into the gravel trap in a collision involving Jordi Gene and Colciago at the first corner, Farfus now leads the standings by a point from Priaulx.

Gene survived the first corner skirmish to take third, his first WTCC pole position of the season behind the wheel of the SEAT Leon TDI. He held off the N.Technology Alfa Romeo 156 of James Thompson, who pressured him throughout the race.

Race one winner Yvan Muller picked up fifth place after capitalising on the first corner confusion at the start, with Rob Huff charging to sixth to become Chevrolet's only points scorer of the weekend.

Gabriele Tarquini took seventh for SEAT ahead of team-mate Tiago Monteiro, who narrowly held off the charging Alex Zanardi, who deserved to finish in the points after a stunning charge from 23rd on the grid.

Independents' Trophy victory went to WTCC returnee Massimiliano Pedala, with Stefano d'Aste taking the lead in the standings with second ahead of the recovering Colciago.
