Calendar tweaked, Mexico dropped
The FIA has released a revised World Touring Car Championship schedule for 2008, with two changes made from the original calendar
The proposed round in Mexico has been dropped for the second year running, while Brands Hatch and Anderstorp have swapped dates to avoid a clash with the British Touring Car Championship at the Kent circuit in September.
Autosport.com understands that while Puebla, Mexico City, and Monterey were in the running to hold the Mexican race, series officials could not get the guarantees that they needed from the circuits, and they are keen to avoid a repeat of the late calendar changes that happened this year.
Last year the Mexican round was replaced with a race at Zandvoort, but no replacement has been announced for the 2008 round.
The British round of the championship was originally planned for September 21, but the WTCC had to move their round as the BTCC had already agreed the same date with Brands Hatch.
The race has swapped dates with Anderstorp, which was originally scheduled for July 27.
