Underdog star Dahlgren keen to stay among Chevrolets at Oschersleben
Robert Dahlgren hopes he can crash the Chevrolet party and put his Volvo C30 in podium contention in today's World Touring Car Championship races at Oschersleben
Dahlgren has led the fight against Chevrolet so far this weekend, culminating in an outstanding qualifying which saw him line up alongside Yvan Muller on the front row of the grid.
Chevrolet though has looked imperious at times, topping every session - often by more than three tenths of a second - as it looks to build upon its already substantial lead in the teams' standings.
Dahlgren says that he and his Polestar Racing team are continually closing the gap, and hopes his second-place starting berth can translate into the first Volvo podium in an FIA-backed series for more than 20 years.
"Every time we go out we go closer and closer, and hopefully we can be a threat," he reflected.
"They have a package that covers all things: they are quick in the dry, the wet, and at every circuit. We have a package where if everything works well we are fine, but we have weaknesses as well.
"To say we will beat them is the long term aim, but its way too early right now. I'm very happy to be here though, starting from second, and I think on this kind of form we can fight with them in the races - and hopefully a podium is possible."
