Wilson praises Stobart team

M-Sport boss Malcolm Wilson has praised the Stobart Ford team for their improved performance during 2007

The second Ford outfit pushed Subaru to the final round of the season in the manufacturers' championship, and they scored a podium finish in the penultimate event of the year with Jari-Matti Latvala.

Latvala has been promoted to the BP Ford team for 2008 in place of Marcus Gronholm, and Wilson feels that the young Finn's development is partly down to the ability of the Stobart team.

"Stobart have played a massive part in Jari-Matti's development to the point where he has now moved up to the BP Ford team," said Wilson.

"They must be commended for supporting young drivers in the WRC and playing a major role in the advancement of Jari-Matti and Matthew (Wilson)'s careers."

Wilson believes that the team can get even stronger next year, and they recently announced that Gigi Galli will take Latvala's place at the team.

"The team can be rightly proud of the job they have done, it has been one of the strongest performances in the WRC by a private team," he added.

"For a private team to be setting fastest times, leading events, and grabbing podium finishes is a fantastic achievement. We have created a great platform to build upon for next year."
