Subaru to debut new Impreza
Subaru will introduce its new car at next month's Tour de Corse but team principal David Lapworth says the Impreza is more 'evolution than revolution'
The new version of the Impreza, which is currently known as the 'WRC 2002 homologation', will be given its official title at the end of this month. The changes include a small revision to the aerodynamic package, with a front splitter (the skirt underneath the front bumper) fitted to the Impreza. This will be more durable and slightly lower than on the current Impreza World Rally Car, which should generate more downforce.
The exhaust manifold has also been slightly changed to give the Impreza a little more power and there has been changes to the flywheel and the turbo.
Lapworth said: "We introduced the current model in two phases. Our first major change was made in 2000, with the car introduced at the Rally of Portugal where it scored its first win.
"The complete car was finished in 2001 with the four door model introduced in Monte Carlo," he added. "2002 is our evolution year and we have made a small number of changes. It is not a time for a radical redesign of the car."
