Puras to miss out on Corsican return

Last year's Corsica Rally winner, Jesus Puras has expressed his disappointment at being unable to secure a drive for this year's event, which takes place from March 8-11

The Spaniard had been looking to seal a deal with Subaru or Mitsubishi to drive a third car for either manufacturer. When both deals fell through, he tried to privately fund himself for the third round of the World Rally Championship but was unsuccessful.

"I am very disappointed not to be doing the rally," the 38-year-old told Motorsport News. "I cannot find the money myself and Subaru and Mitsubishi has no money for a third car at the moment."

Puras is currently trying to secure a manufacturer drive at the forthcoming Deutschland or Sanr Remo rallies. He will contest Rallye Catalunya in a privateer Citroen Xsara WRC, alongside his assault on this year's Spanish Championship, a title he has won seven times.

"Right now I am working on a deal to drive a manufacturer car," he said. "Maybe it could be a works Citroen again. It would make sense as I know the car and I know the team. Part of my contract for the Spanish Championship, however is that I 'm free to go elsewhere and drive for works teams on WRC events."
