Sordo happy to play support role

Dani Sordo is happy to play a supporting role to Sebastien Loeb as he prepares for his first season as a works WRC driver

The Spaniard will join Loeb at Citroen for this season as the manufacturer makes a return to the championship, and he is hoping to start the year well in Monte Carlo this weekend.

"My goal is not the title, but to help Citroen and Sebastien win the manufacturers' championship," Sordo was quoted as saying by Spanish Newspaper AS.

As the former JWRC champion enters just his second season in the WRC, he believes that his time will come in the future.

"If it's hard enough to win a rally, it's a lot harder to win a championship," he said. "We'll have to wait a bit."

The season gets underway on Thursday evening with the start of the Monte Carlo rally, and Sordo is keeping his expectations in check as Citroen prepare for the debut of the new C4.

"We will have a small disadvantage because we have a new car," he said. "I'm not going to say I can win, but we can achieve a great result."
