Loeb happy with controlled pace

Sebastien Loeb feels that he has found a good rhythm so far during the first day of Rally GB

The Citroen driver only needs to finish fifth in the event to claim his fourth consecutive world title, and he made it clear before the event that he would not be fighting for victory.

Loeb finished the morning's loop of stages in third place, 22 seconds adrift of Mikko Hirvonen and just one behind Marcus Gronholm.

"Everything is going well, the feeling is ok," said Loeb. "It was not easy but I felt ok in the car, I had a good rhythm.

"I just drove safely, and the strategy is to continue like this, to keep this pace. That would be good."

Stobart Ford's Jari-Matti Latvala was just seven seconds adrift of Loeb following a strong run through SS3, but the French driver said that he was happy to focus on his own performance.

"I'm not pushing too hard, I'm just focused on staying on the road," Loeb added. "I'm just concentrating on things like braking to keep my focus.

"My situation is a bit frustrating but it's more important for me to win the championship here than the rally."
