Gavin relishing battle with Aston
Oliver Gavin believes that Corvette's rivalry with Aston Martin is still healthy after the British squad won Le Mans for the first time last year
Corvette's winning streak in the GT1 category came to an end in the French classic in 2007, but Gavin, speaking on the main stage at this year's Autosport International Show, says that neither manufacturer will relax as they develop their cars.
"We know every year we go back to Le Mans they will be there, they will be developing the car, whether it is aero or mechanics," he said. "They have good drivers, and Corvette want to match them.
"There is a healthy rivalry there and everyone wants to win, but they also want the competition."
The British driver is also pleased that Corvette have decided to stay in the ALMS, even if the GT1 category has lacked much competition in the past year.
"We want to beat Aston, that is why we continue to race in ALMS," he added. "We want to make sure our strategy is strong.
"Everyone is trying to make their machines quicker and the package a bit slicker. Hopefully Aston will come back and take us on again in the ALMS."
