Corvette prefer caution in qualifying
Corvette Racing are taking a cautious approach to qualifying this year due to the tricky weather conditions
The sessions on Wednesday and Thursday have been disrupted by changeable weather conditions, and although the works C6.Rs are only third and fifth in their class, the team are happy to take a cautious approach.
Max Papis, who is sharing a car with 2006 GT1 winners Oliver Gavin and Olivier Beretta, said: "At this place you need to stay calm and understand the condition of the track and learn as much as possible.
"We know what counts is the result of the race. This is one of those places where you shouldn't try to guess.
"The moment something goes wrong, it goes wrong in a very big way. That's why we always try to stay on the side of caution."
Corvette Racing team boss Doug Fehan added: "This place can cause you to get impatient at times like this, and that's a big mistake.
"You have to have the experience to know that patience pays. It's important to get all six drivers qualified and get that requirement out of the way, then the team can focus on fine-tuning the setup.
