Winterbottom wins again in race 3
Ford Performance Racing's Mark Winterbottom took his second consecutive victory in race three of the City of Ipswich 400 at Queensland Raceway
Winterbottom held off Russell Ingall at the start, and came under heavy pressure from Ingall for most of the race before Ingall's charge faded in the closing laps.
Ingall's hopes went for good when he ran off at the track with six laps remaining and lost a place to James Courtney who finished second. Winterbottom also took the round's overall victory ahead of Ingall and Courtney.
Garth Tander just held off Will Davison for fourth, with Jamie Whincup right behind Davison, Whincup having thrown away a chance of a better finish after outbraking himself on lap 4 and dropping four places.
Whincup's teammate Craig Lowndes was next in sixth place, with Fabian Coulthard, Mark Skaife and Lee Holdsworth completing the top ten. Steven Richards finished eleventh after dropping himself to eighteenth on lap one when he ran wide at turn three.
After being forced to retire in race two, Rick Kelly had a fantastic race three, charging up from 25th at the start to finish the race in thirteenth, one place behind older brother Todd.
Two wins for Winterbottom extended his lead in the championship to 122 points over Tander, third-placed Whincup losing ground to both Winterbottom and Tander, 208 behind Winterbottom and 86 behind Tander. Rick Kelly's race two dramas leaves him 382 points off the lead in fourth.
