Labonte to replace Waltrip at Indy
Terry Labonte will drive the No 55 Toyota Camry for Michael Waltrip Racing at Indianapolis in place of the team owner
Labonte has already raced the car on the road course at Sonoma, and he was scheduled to compete in the second non-oval event at Watkins Glen.
However, Waltrip, who has only qualified for four races this year, has decided to put Labonte in the car for the next race at Indianapolis as well.
"While we've planned to bring Terry back for the Watkins Glen road course event, I felt having him in the car next weekend at Indianapolis would be a great opportunity for me to continue to evaluate my entire organization from an owner's perspective," Waltrip said.
"The feedback related to road course racing that Terry was able to provide my team after Infineon Raceway was very valuable. We look forward to more of the same input after Indy."
Labonte finished 35th in his first outing in the car, while Waltrip is currently 52nd in the Nextel Cup standings.
