Earnhardt Jr pleased with CoT

Dale Earnhardt Jr. has been impressed with the Car of Tomorrow after its first two races in recent weeks

Drivers and teams have been split on their opinions of the new car, which will be used for 16 races during this season.

"I'm pretty pleased so far, but we've only run short tracks with it." said Earnhardt, who registered top 10 finishes in both Car of Tomorrow races at Bristol and Martinsville.

"I'm sure it will be a new ballgame when we go to the bigger tracks and it'll be a whole other puzzle to figure out."

Earnhardt has been impressed with NASCAR's approach to the new car as well, as the teams work on ironing out any problems with the cars.

NASCAR officials plan to advise teams on changes that need to be made to the car to address certain problems that have arisen in the first two races, such as safety foam catching fire due to heat around the exhaust.

"I think we'll learn a lot of little nuances and things like that within the car and make changes as we go with NASCAR," said Earnhardt. "They've done a great job up to this point.

"They're being real lenient in a lot of areas with the car, but as we start to understand it, they'll start to tighten the grip on the technical inspections."
