Bourdais wants to bow out on a high

Sebastien Bourdais has vowed to give his all in his final Champ Car race despite already wrapping up a fourth-straight title last weekend

The Frenchman sealed the remarkable achievement with victory at Surfers Paradise on Sunday, where he also became the first driver to win the Australian event twice.

The 28-year-old claims that he will not get distracted by his upcoming move to Formula One with Toro Rosso though, as he feels he owes it to his team to go out on a high in Mexico on November 11.

"Obviously it's a great challenge that awaits me for next year," said Bourdais. "But so far I'm a Newman/Haas/Lanigan driver, driving that McDonald's car. I'll think about next year when it's time.

"I just couldn't stand myself if I didn't give it all I had until the very end," he added. "The team deserve the very best, and we're going to do just that until the very end.

"There's one more race to go before we turn the page of my Champ Car career, and we'll just give it our very best again in Mexico City."

Bourdais added that while he was not looking too far into the future just yet, he had been able to reflect on his time in America, and he hailed the efforts of his team during that time.

"We started this relationship back in 2003, and the results all really speak for themselves," he said.

"You realise how much has come to you and how much you've achieved with these guys, and you get a sense that it's coming to an end very closely now.

"What a fun five years it's been. I'm surely not going to forget about it any time soon."
