Suzuki optimistic about new engine
Suzuki boss Paul Denning says that the new specification engine that the team will bring to the French Grand Prix will be a big step forward
He also revealed that more developments are planned for the test immediately after the Le Mans race.
Rizla Suzuki rider John Hopkins took his first MotoGP podium in Shanghai after chasing Casey Stoner and Valentino Rossi throughout the race.
"John said today that his engine was better than the Honda, a little bit better than the Yamaha in places, but not near the Ducati," said Denning.
"But for Le Mans we'll have two new specification engines for the pair of the them (Hopkins and Chris Vermeulen) in the garage.
"I can't say what those parts are, but they'll be all internal bits that have proved in testing to be better.
"Then we've got some exciting stuff on the Monday after the race, particularly in that it will sound very different."
Denning explained that the upgrades were designed to do more than just improve straightline performance.
"We're really working on the engine setting to help turn the bike with it's initial turning ability," he said.
"Just at the apex we need the thing to hunker down a little more. It seems at the moment the bike is more like a two stroke, running on a little too much then leaving it hard for the riders."
