Fogarty tips Toseland to shine

Former motorbike star Carl Fogarty has tipped fellow Briton James Toseland to make a success of his switch to MotoGP this year - but only if he puts in maximum effort during the season

Fogarty never had the chance of a fully competitive ride in MotoGP, but reckons that Toseland's opportunity on a Yamaha with Tech3 should allow him to achieve great results.

"I think he'll be really fired up and I'd love to see him win a race, I really would," Fogarty told Motor Cycle News. "There is no reason why he can't; all he's doing is riding a bike that's a little bit faster and a little bit lighter.

"At the circuits he knows, like Qatar where he's already won - go out and win the race. He needs to get in enough testing and not get fazed by names by MotoGP."

Fogarty thinks that Toseland will have the machinery he needs to succeed - and the key factor will only come down to how hungry the Briton is to win.

"Personally I wouldn't be going to MotoGP unless I was on the same bike as Rossi, so I'm presuming he's going the same bike.

"He's on Michelins - I think they'll come back next year, so if he's on the best tyres Michelin can provide, the rest is down to James Toseland and how much he wants to win it."
