Guintoli fastest in second session
Rookie Sylvain Guintoli set a surprise fastest time for the Dunlop Tech 3 Yamaha team in second practice at Brno
The French rider had leapt up to second with ten minutes to go, then with his final lap of the hour Guintoli produced a 1:58.362 to beat championship leader Casey Stoner by 0.206 seconds.
John Hopkins had dominated the opening half of the afternoon, and ended up third on the Rizla Suzuki, with Stoner's Ducati teammate Loris Capirossi maintaining his strong morning form in fourth place.
Randy de Puniet completed the top five on the Kawasaki.
Title contender Valentino Rossi slipped to sixth, ahead of Repsol Honda duo Dani Pedrosa and Nicky Hayden, Guintoli's teammate Makoto Tamada, and Hopkins' stablemate Chris Vermeulen.
Gresini Honda's Marco Melandri, whose participation in the event had been in doubt due to leg injuries sustained in the previous round at Laguna Seca, sat out the session.
