Pedrosa frustrated by fading bike
Dani Pedrosa was frustrated with his Repsol Honda's performance after finishing second to Valentino Rossi at Mugello
The Spaniard - who had been fastest in all three dry practice sessions in Italy but only qualified eighth in the wet - rapidly moved forward in the race and broke away from the field in company with Rossi.
But in the second half of the race he was unable to keep pace with the Yamaha as his bike's performance faded.
"I was expecting to win today," Pedrosa told BBC television.
"As was happening in all the races before, in the second part of the race our bike started to spin in both wheels, and Valentino was going away.
"I couldn't force the bike to go faster because I could crash, so I just closed the throttle and tried to finish second.
"I'm disappointed with this because I want to give 100% of my riding during the race, but at the moment I can't do it."
Pedrosa remains third in the championship, 33 points behind Casey Stoner.
