125cc: Faubel takes win and points lead

Hector Faubel took the lead of the 125cc championship by beating Mattia Pasini, Lukas Pesek and Gabor Talmacsi to victory in a typically frantic race at Brno

Pasini and Talmacsi were the main protagonists for most of the race, swapping the lead repeatedly. With an estimated 30,000 Hungarians having come across to Brno to cheer for Talmacsi, the championship leader was under huge pressure to win, but could not make a decisive break.

The lead pack closed up in the second half of the race, with Sergio Gadea, Faubel and Pesek joining Talmacsi and Pasini's dice.

Pasini was then handed what looked like a crucial break when Gadea crashed out of second and delayed the rest of the group.

But with a lap to go Pasini ran wide onto the grass and was immediately swamped by Faubel and Talmacsi.

As Faubel moved into the lead, Pasini managed to repass Talmacsi for third and was followed by Pesek at the next corner - the local favourite easing Talmacsi out wide and securing the final podium spot.

Pasini then closed in on Faubel, but could not get close enough and had to settle for second, as Faubel clinched his third win of the year and established a 10-point championship lead.

Tomoyoshi Koyama finished a lonely fifth, with Pol Espargaro beating Simone Corsi and Michael Ranseder to sixth.
