125cc: Pasini retains pole in wet session
Mattia Pasini retained his 125cc pole position as rain hit the second qualifying session in Holland
Although there was no chance of the riders improving their grid positions as they lapped between 12 and 20 seconds off the pace in the treacherous conditions, most still took to the track to gain some wet practice mileage, with changeable weather forecast throughout the weekend.
Wet weather specialist Mike di Meglio was fastest in the session, lapping in 1:58.929.
His advantage had been as great as five seconds early on before others closed in, but he remained 1.053 seconds clear of nearest rival Gabor Talmacsi at the end of the half-hour.
Sergio Gadea was third, ahead of Tomoyoshi Koyama and Michael Ranseder.
The Austrian was one of several riders further up the timesheets than usual on the wet track, with Steve Bonsey seventh, Simone Grotzkyj Giorgi eighth and Enrique Jerez ninth.
There were relatively few errors considering the weather, with Joan Olive responsible for the most spectacular incident when he high-sided on the exit of the chicane. He got up without injury.
Poleman Pasini only completed a handful of laps and was classified 30th, but will share the front row tomorrow with Lukas Pesek, Simone Corsi and Gadea.
