125cc: Talmacsi takes pole in Spain

Gabor Talmacsi beat title rival Hector Faubel to pole position for the 125cc race at Catalunya, while Lukas Pesek tumbled from first in the Friday times to fifth on the combined grid

For most of the session it looked like Pesek would retain his pole, as he quickly improved on his previous time and edged further away from the field.

But in a frenetic final two minutes he was pushed down the order as first Bradley Smith beat Pesek's provisional pole by a tenth of a second, then Talmacsi leapt onto pole with a 1:50.012 - 0.8 seconds faster than his rivals at that stage.

Faubel and morning practice pacesetter Sergio Gadea then shuffled Smith down to fourth, with Faubel ending up 0.3 seconds adrift of Talmacsi.

Raffaele de Rosa dropped from third on the provisional grid to sixth despite finding four-tenths of a second today.

Tomoyoshi Koyama will start seventh, ahead of Mattia Pasini - who could not improve on his Friday time and slumped from second to eighth. Simone Corsi and Andrea Iannone complete the top ten.

Lorenzo Zanetti and Dino Lombardi both had to be assisted by the marshals after falling from their bikes. Lombardi suffered a low-side early in the session, while Zanetti had a dramatic incident on his last lap after getting out of shape approaching Turn 13 and rolling through the gravel.
